Get Unresponsive going without winding

I'm new to the unresponsive yoyo and would like to know how you get it going without winding the string around the bearing.
I'm aware of binding, from a completely wound string, but if i have a totally unwound and dead yoyo, how can i get it bound?
Name of tricks, links, explanations, would all be much appreciated.
